It’s true. If we want to improve our diet and eat healthier, we have to add more vegetables and fruits to our daily meals. In fact, they together should account for half of our daily food intake.
It’s important to understand though, that it’s much better to consume fresh, raw, whole vegetables and fruits instead of blending them into purees, creams or smoothies; that way we keep the fibre intact, which -among other things- helps us to maintain our blood-sugar levels steady.
Why would I share a smoothie recipe then?
Well, while I know the facts and the science behind them, I still enjoy drinking a smoothie or fruit juice from time to time; and I do believe that having fun and experimenting in the kitchen also contribute to a healthy and happy lifestyle. Don’t forget to enjoy your food!
