But it was hot. We were in Kaohsiung (高雄) and went to FoGuangShan (佛光山) for the day. It was February 2010. I know, it’s been 7 years, but I never took the time to publish these photos before.
Fast forward to February 2017. I’m in Madrid. It’s winter, and it’s cold and rainy.
Tonight I’m going to talk over Skype with a friend who lives in L.A. She is the one who took us (my mom, my sister and I) to FoGuangShan that day. I guess this is why I thought of this place this morning and wanted to work on the photos.
I’m not going to tell you any details about this monastery -you can Google it up later- but I’ll tell you that is worth a visit; and that even though I had seen hundreds of temples and monasteries already (I had been living in Asia for 3 years by that time); it is a special place and it’s interesting to take the tour if you want to learn about Buddhism.
Last but not least, there is a Chinese calligraphy workshop you can join (for beginners), and the food the monks prepare (vegetarian) is A-MA-ZING —definitely one of the best vegetarian meals I had during my timein Taiwan.
