And one of the last ones too.
I took this photo in 2013 when R and I were already thinking about leaving Taiwan and moving forward onto a new adventure. I don’t remember what took us there on this particular summer day. I guess we felt we were starting to say goodbye to what was our home for 7 years, so we had to see Jiufen (九份) one last time.
Jiufen was one of my favorite places in Taiwan. And it was one of the first ones we visited when we arrived in 2007 —a dear friend took us there. It’s one of those places that make you feel like you are in a movie; one of those places that would sneak into your dreams from time to time. I went there many times, and I would never get tired of it.
I still dream about it, about trying some bizarre snacks in the Old Street, about having some tea while gazing at the sea, about running under the rain and down the stairs looking for some place to eat, about peeking into handcrafts workshops, about walking among the crowd, about being part of it.
