It was a couple of weeks ago.
I was about to melt away in Andalusia, Spain when I got my ticket to Edinburgh.
It’ll be great to take a break from the Spanish summer, I thought.
However, what actually motivated me to fly there was that I would meet these guys, good friends who I hadn’t seen since 2015.
I didn’t even read anything about Edinburgh, nor did I plan what I wanted to do there besides spending time with my friends.
But it was the best way to enjoy this beautiful city.
As soon as I landed, I fell in love with the burg.
Although it’s a very old city, in my eyes it looked new and it felt rather refreshing.
I found it so different from all the places I’ve been to, that it sort of re-ignited my desire for traveling and exploring.
And the air, OMG!, I loved the air there, so cool and crisp.
It was just a coincidence, but I got there on the last day of the Edinburgh International Festival. It was a lot of fun to walk around and enjoy streets performances and live music shows!
Since I arrived in Edinburgh a day earlier than my friends, I had to stay at a hostel -a really crappy one- for that night. The only interesting thing about it was the fact that the building was an old church turned into an accommodation business.
I don’t have pictures of it, but I have this one, which is a theatre. Very cool! Isn’t it?
If you are one of my blog’s followers, you should know by now that I love nature and that I’m always looking for parks and green areas in the cities I visit.
In Edinburgh, it wasn’t any different, and the best thing was that I didn’t even have to look far for these places.
This view is from Edinburgh’s Castle.
And this is at Calton Hill, an easy and short walk from the city center.
And the view from up there.
Another wonderful walk we took was the Water of Leith Walkway.
It’s a nice stroll that gifts you beautiful and varied views of the Scottish countryside.
We spent few hours lazily walking along the river, catching up, and just enjoying life! We had a fantastic time!
I know what I said on my previous post about taking pictures with friends, and these here certainly weren’t the best moments we had during those days in Edinburgh. But this gathering HAD to be documented somehow. After all, it’s a big deal when you get on a plane for a bunch of hours just to hug somebody, don’t you agree?
Lush, green landscape, probably my favorite thing about Edinburgh.
I just couldn’t get enough of these views!
I’d definitely go back to Edinburgh, and I would even do this walk again.
It must be beautiful and enjoyable in different ways all year around. I’m sure of that!
